Behind the scenes | Rachel Goodchild
This creative project was the reupholstering of eight black, tired John Lewis chairs in a collaboration with Upholsterer Sarah Millmore. For this project I knew I wanted to add a bit of life and colour, so I choose my Luna pattern, and decided that I wanted each chair to have completely different bold colour in a sturdy fabric to withstand busy kitchen usage. I set about having the eight luna colours printed onto a heavy-weight fabric and then passed over to Sarah, who then set about adding new foam and recovering, scotch guarding, and ... hey presto!
Collaborating with a skilled upholsterer like Sarah ensured that the transformation was executed with precision and attention to detail. Once complete, the chairs looked rejuvenated and created a vibrant, contemporary atmosphere.
