Who retains the rights to the designs once they are created?

A:

Rachel Goodchild owns the copyright of all designs unless transferring ownership of copyright forms part of a licensing deal.

How many rounds of revisions are included in the commission or licensing agreement?

A:

There are two rounds of revision before sign off and delivery.

Q:

What is your typical turnaround time for creating and delivering designs?

A:

Once a commission has been agreed upon, I create a schedule and timeline for the project in conjunction with the commissioner.

I represent a museum. Are you still available for derivative design work, as we have some stunning pieces in our archive that we would like to incorporate in our museum shop.

 

A:

In what formats will the final designs be delivered, and are they suitable for the intended use (eg. printing, digital)?

 

A:

Delivery formats will be discussed and agreed upon with the commissioner at the start of the project.

Q:

Will there be a formal contract outlining the terms and conditions of our collaboration?

 

A:

Yes. Either the commissioner will issue a contact or I am able to supply a template agreement.

Q:

How do you ensure that the designs are original and free from copyright infringement issues?

 

A:

I conduct thorough research to ensure that the design concept and elements are original. For every design, I keep records of the design process, including sketching, drafts, and revisions, to demonstrate the originality of the final design. Every design is hand-drawn. I make no use of pre-made templates or designs.

I am a member of ACID (Anti Copying in Design), which provide advice from legal experts and intellectual property professionals to ensure my designs comply with copyright laws and regulations. Finally, originality of design is enshrined in the commissioning and/or licensing agreement.

Q:

We are needing some patterns for a clothing range, and we are wanting a perpetual licence deal. Is this possible?

A:

Perpetual licence deals are available: please contact me to discuss. Do look through our Pattern Bank to see if there is anything you would like to licence. Or we can discuss a bespoke pattern from a brief, if preferred.

I no longer sell on Not on The High Street.

I am a student and I would love to come and intern for you. Would this be possible.

As much as I would love to help students, I am afraid I can no longer take interns.

We sold your wrapping papers for years! Our customers loved them. Is there anyway we can get them back in our shop again?
