DESIGN ACHIVE
2001 - 2006

Pre design: Rachel started her career working as a Montessori teacher after studying at the Pacific Coast Montessori Association in California in 1987 and gaining her Montesssori Pre-Primary Diploma, followed by studying at the London Montessori Centre in 1991and gaining a distinction and a diploma in Montessori Primary Teaching. Rachel spent years teaching in schools in both England and California. Rachel's last teaching job was running an IT department within a school, before taking maternity leave towards the end of 2000 to have her second child. It was during Rachel's maternity leave that her creativity took hold and, so began a whole new chapter in her life..

In 2001 she was creating paper collages for sale at exhibitions and in galleries. During this time she also started making hand-made cards to sell along side her artwork, and it wasn't long before she found herself with many outlets wanting to sell her hand-made cards. After a year of making everything by hand, she decided to get her cards litho printed (mainly to give her more time to create new works). With litho printed greetings cards, this meant that Rachel could sell to even more outlets. One thing led to another and soon gift wrap was added to her growing collection, and a website was built for her to be able to sell to trade online.  She joined Not on the Hight Street in 2006 in order to be able to sell direct to retail and remained with the company for several years.
