Rachel Goodchild is a Pattern Designer & Project Manager. As a designer, she started out specialising in high-end gift packaging in 2001. She sold her products online via her website to trade and retail, nationally and internationally including USA, Europe and Australia. Rachel was one of the early businesses to join Not on The High Street. She sold her products through the company for several years.
In her design field she has created designs for sale, licensing and commission. She has been fortunate enough to have worked with a wide range of companies including Charbonnel et Walker, The Art Fund, Warner Textile Archive and Paul Smith for Leica. Over the years, many of her designs have been featured in The Sunday Times Style Magazine, Homes and Antiques Magazine, Country Living, The Telegraph, Country Homes & Interiors, to name a few. Five of Rachel’s designs were included in The Pattern Sourcebook by Drusilla Cole, (Laurence King Publishing). Over the years Rachel has created hundreds of designs, overseen many print-runs, built websites/ blogs, set up e-commerce sites, exhibited at trade shows from London to San Francisco, and always carried out her own marketing.
Rachel became fascinated in the art of packaging in every form, and soon realised that the elements of fine packaging, to make something stand out, can also be carried through into a business. "It's all about the packaging" can be quite relevant for any business. A company’s packaging, in simple terms, is its business branding.
In 2007, Rachel created a series of workshops for small companies, which were known as 'The Art Of…’ series. The Art Of workshops grew organically over the years. In delivering these workshops Rachel also found she was learning something new each time by listening to what people had to say, their concerns with regard to business planing, their overall image, marketing, website design, with the most common concern being ‘How to take my idea and turn it into a reality’. Alongside Rachel’s design work, these workshops and individual consultation sessions followed through until 2018.
in 2021 Rachel continues to design to commission, but alongside this, she is a qualified Prince2 Project Manager. This year also saw her set to work creating and managing a new project: Boom Folk is soon to be launched.
